About Project

The UltraBeam is a mobile scaffold system, specially designed to be used in the renovation of one storey family houses and is targeted at construction workers and painters who required temporary scaffolding. The construction is based on two vertical beams with a lifting system for the working platform with a length of 4 to 9m. The construction can easily be erected by 2 persons in a relatively short time.

About PRoject

After selling 'UltraBeam'for four years Skyworks B.V was aiming to enter it into the rental service business The focus of this project was to redesign and optimize the Ultrabeam to develop a compact, lightweight, robust, easy to use and assemble prototype for meeting new requirements of rental service whilst confining to the scaffolding standards and rules of safety. Design for manufacturing and assembly techniques along with FEA tools and methods were used to achieve 17% reduction in weight with 23% increase in stiffness. This was a group project conducted for the course Project Advanced Products
